Love, divine, only fills those who open themselves to it

Just as the sun sheds its light and warmth, so God pours out his love on all creatures. But humans have the power to accept or reject this love. So, even though God’s love is infinite, those who are closed to him receive none, and things continue as if God did not love them. Whether humans love him or not changes nothing for God. But if they do not love him, they deprive themselves of something very precious: because they have barricaded themselves in, God’s love cannot reach them. The Creator has built the universe on immutable and implacable laws. Those who harbour thoughts and feelings of doubt or rebellion toward him give off fumes so dense they prevent the rays of the divine sun from penetrating their heart and soul. So they should not be surprised if they feel they are in the dark and the cold.
